《半島電視台》（aljazeera）報導，土耳其海運中心日前通報，一艘名為「莫札特號」（M/V Mozart）的貨輪，在西非外海遇襲，造成船上15名土耳其籍船員遭到綁架扣押、衝擊過程中一人不幸罹難死亡，也是唯一非土耳其公民的船員。

官方表示，根據資料確認、罹難的船員名叫法爾馬（Farman Ismayilov），來自亞塞拜然、是一名工程師。

經過確認，該艘貨輪目前停靠在加彭（Gabon）第二大城尚蒂爾港（Port-Gentil），被發現時船上有3名船員被留下，提到貨輪在幾內亞灣（Gulf of Guinea）遭遇海盜襲擊，雖然船員們即刻將船隻反鎖，但經過約6小時對峙後依然擋不住海盜破壞，導致多數船員被擄走。

聽聞綁架案，土耳其總統埃爾多安（Recep Tayyip Erdogan）兩度與船上資深船員雅仁（Furkan Yaren）聯繫，確認他們的狀況和事件經過，似乎是因為腿部受傷才被留在船上。總統隨即下令、要求土國政府計畫營救被綁架的船員。

外電指出，這艘掛著賴比瑞亞國旗的貨輪，從奈及利亞大港拉哥斯（Lagos）出發，準備向南非開普敦（Cape Town）前進，在距離聖多美普林西比（Sao Tome and Principe）約185公里處遇上海盜。

根據國際海事局（International Maritime Bureau）統計，西非幾內亞灣一帶，包含奈及利亞、幾內亞、多哥、貝寧和喀麥隆沿海，是當前全球海盜最猖獗且危險的海域。
