南非瓜祖魯那他省（KwaZulu Natal）的城鎮雷狄史密斯（Ladysmith）24日晚間受到暴雨侵襲，引發10公尺高的洪水，造成至少7人死亡、11人失蹤，搜救單位仍在救援行動搜尋罹難者遺體。

法新社報導，瓜祖魯那他省（KwaZulu Natal）當局表示，暴雨侵襲雷狄史密斯，引發高達10公尺的洪水，摧毀房屋，沖走主要道路上好幾輛汽車，人們則受困家中。

省政府表示，災難波及範圍直到25日晚間才顯現出來。他告訴法新社：「目前，我們已確認6人死亡，仍有10人失蹤。已重新展開搜尋工作。」1輛載有9名乘客的小巴內發現3具遺體。發言人說，另外6人仍失蹤。

另外也在1棟完全被毀壞的房子裡發現1具遺體，而屋內的另外2人仍然下落不明。至少還有2人被困在被沖走的車內而喪生。接下來可能還會發生更嚴重的暴雨。瓜祖魯那他省在全球氣溫上升的背景下，受到越來越嚴重的洪水和極端天氣災害的影響。
