美國聯邦眾議院前議長裴洛西，近日隨眾議院訪團前往印度，並與流亡當地的西藏精神領袖達賴喇嘛會面，裴洛西除了表示眾院近日通過一項支持西藏的決議，並且指控中國正在有系統地「抹滅西藏文化」。

彭博報導，由眾議院共和黨籍議員麥考爾（Michael McCaul），以及前議長裴洛西（Nancy Pelosi）所率領的跨黨派代表團，於18日抵達印度北部山城達蘭薩拉（Dharamsala），並於19日與西藏流亡精神領袖達賴喇嘛會面。

該訪團在行程期間參訪了藏人行政中央總部、人民議會以及西藏博物館，並與流亡藏人社區的領袖會面。裴洛西表示，美國國會最近通過了「促進西藏與中國爭端解決法案」（Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act），表明西藏議題仍未解決的美國正式立場，強調此舉向中國政府發出了清晰的訊息。

裴洛西也指控，目前北京當局正在「試圖抹滅西藏文化，減少藏文使用的機會」，藉此「試圖做出我們不能讓其得逞的行為」。

對於美國國會代表團訪問西藏流亡政府，北京則表達強烈反對立場，呼籲美國遵守西藏問題的承諾，停止向國際發出錯誤的訊息。報導指出，中國在1950年代時以武力兼併西藏，包括達賴喇嘛在內的僧侶則在9年後逃至印度，並且在印度北部、鄰近西藏的達蘭薩拉建立流亡政府，西藏流亡政府官員則表示，美國國會的立法，以及代表團的到訪，都將對中國形成壓力，對於西藏爭取自治有所助益。
